When I walk in the morning, sometimes by myself and sometimes with friends, one of the fun happenings for me is that I find pennies on my path. At times it is nickels, dimes and quarters, but mostly it is the pennies that I find that I envision are from heaven or the Universe. During my walks I am not looking down or looking for them. I will walk different paths and there at my feet is a penny waiting for me. Perhaps a sign of freedom…the Lincoln penny, or making “cents”/sense out of my walk thorough life! Who knows for sure, but I know I have lots of fun receiving my pennies or cents from heaven… just too fun on my early morning walks.
One morning on my walk, I was joined by a young thirty something couple who were visiting me from the Midwest. The young woman is the daughter of a college friend. I always say I knew her before she was born. The best thing is we have been connected from her beginning. She, her husband and I were walking and talking about all the “stuff” that is going on “out there”. So much fear, at times almost too much to handle listening to the TV, radio and conversations filled with the consciousness of insecurity, anger, stress and struggle.
As we were walking, sure enough, as usual, on the sidewalk lay a bright penny waiting for me to pick it up. Good grief! Who was listening to our conversation, about all the lack that is going on around the world? Lack of this, lack of that, just lack, lack, lack and fear, fear, and more fear! Certainly is strangling energy fields of fear and lack.
As we chatted, we talked about other times that seemed so depressing, ie: the big Depression. Of course, they don’t remember, but they heard their grandparents talk about it. Isn’t this really an illusion, they asked me? “Well, that’s the idea…that what we perceive isn’t always what it seems,” I responded. We have to get to the facts and our own truths. There were millionaires made during the Depression. And for all those who committed suicide, did it really have to happen that way? Who knows? It did happen that way.
Isn’t this recession/depression just another repeat of the same old same old thing? Who knows? What I did share with this great young couple is that things are not always as they appear. Perhaps the best way for them is to live their lives from their truths, to create their dreams as their reality no matter what is going on in the outside world. Stay focused and directed on their course together with their young son. It doesn’t mean to put their heads in the sand, be cognitive of what is going on “out there” but to live their lives from their hearts, create their lives consciously and prepare their lives as though they were preparing a gourmet meal. Don’t take crumbs–eat from the food of consciousness that serves them. Don’t live in the illusion no matter what.
Well, how profound our conversation was going. As our walk and conversation was coming to an end, there before our eyes, on the ground in front of us, lay a perfect penny. It was so perfect it almost didn’t appear real. There on the ground on a heavily trafficked street that we were crossing laid this extraordinary penny. I bent down to pick it up and, lo and behold, a perfect cardboard penny. Was the Universe having fun with us? We agreed the Universe was.
For sure, it is not always what we think it is. We must have the facts or we could be buying into the illusion. Here a perfect illusion, a cardboard penny was waiting for us to get the message. Maybe the message is to live your own real life to the best of your abilities. Look at life from your heart. Don’t buy into the fears. Perhaps this is the message of the cardboard penny from heaven! Who knows? What do you feel?
