I know we're always telling ourselves and each other not to compare who we are to anyone else. There's nothing new about this. I just want to bring up these two simple words as a gentle reminder also not to compare your spiritual journey.

The reason is, that well meaning people (me included) will tell you how this or that happened, and how great it felt, and how you have to try it. Your friend may have stood on one foot while croaking like a frog and had the most transcendental, mind blowing experience of her life. She tells you about 'Frogging' one day when you're feeling down. You go home and try it, and damn it, you feel nothing. Worse than nothing, you feel like an idiot because you're standing on one foot and croaking like a frog.

For the past many years I have offered women's rites of passage ceremonies as part of my life's work. I am a trained ceremonialist and through this journey of ceremony and ritual, I have come to see how essential it is to honor our life passages. Without proper acknowledgement of the stages of our lives women often find themselves floundering, unsure of what to do next, what to be, how to be. Sometimes they feel stuck in an earlier stage and can't move past it. The hallmarks that emerge are restlessness, lack of clarity of purpose, depression and confusion.

Ceremony and ritual clear the path, they open the door, honor the individual and t...

People can easily be misunderstood. I had an experience recently that opened my eyes to a new understanding of human compassion.During our family reunion, a relative who was stereotyped as a geek and an insensitive person, participated in a sharing circle where we used Numerology reports to generate discussion. This wonderful man, who had previously been devalued by family members and relatives, opened up as his Numerology report was presented to the group. For the first time ever, he expressed his true desires and current thinking that had created the misconceptions related to his being and soul.We all dis...

Until now I did not know anything about animal totems or animal spirit guides. Through a recent course of events and what I have read about totems so far I believe the moth is mine or at least one of mine. I believe this started when I began following the phases of the moon, this is new to me. A moth showed up one day in my home, hung around for a couple of days, flew into my face one night waking me from a dream, and since then for about a month has continued to present herself to me in various ways both physical and in pictures. I believe the moths message to me was to be more open to my self transformation. To accept the differences within me and know that this is what makes me unique and valuable. For many years I have pushed this side of me away and out thinking it was strange or not ...

Reed, Aj, Ben. Direction = red/EastThe job of many Reed people is to be an intermediary in many situations. They can be helpful with arguments and other types of conflicts of daily life. Reed people do not seek out conflict, but some aspect of themselves thrives on participating in a clash and seeing it resolved. They are ruled by the direction of the East and they are good at initiating change in stagnant situations. Ian would say that the Reed people can be in the water and in the air, so they are good at helping people see and accept differences in another's worlds. In man...
