Fractals

DESCRIPTION
A fractal is a rough or fragmented geometrical figure in which an identical motif is repeated on a reducing scale. The whole patterns is whole and complete unto itself but if you take any little portion of this whole out and examine it closely, you'd see the pattern repeating itself again and again, infinitely. This fractal is called a Mandelbrot set, coined by Benoit Mandelbrot in 1975. This fractal geometry is closely associated with chaos theory. It represents a mathematical point where chaos and order merge.

Fractal objects in nature include shells, cauliflowers, mountains and clouds. Fractals are also produced mathematically in computer graphics. The term fractal was derived from the Latin 'fractus' meaning 'broken' or 'fractured'.
