I live in the desert. The Sonoran Desert to be precise. Where I live we receive only about 7 inches of rain each year so it goes without saying that rainfall has a more profound effect on one's psyche than it may in other parts of the vast world. I've been here 20 years now, and I still am drawn to venture out of my warm home and into the cool rain drops for a solo hike in the desert. It's something really special here to walk among the desert dwellers and feel their powerful energy as they welcome Mother Earth's refreshing cleanse. You can almost hear the root systems sucking in the fresh cold water. You can almost see the leaves opening, as if waking from a long slumber and stretching their limbs. One of the more distinct scents I will always appreciate is the smell of wet Creosote bushes giving the desert such a pungent scent.Quail chirp in the underbrush, Jackrabbits scurry upon my ap...

As some readers may have read along the line, I felt compelled to bring Token Rock into this world in part due to my own desire to utilize my creativity to produce something with deep meaning, not just for me, but for those whom would discover our site along their own paths of life.Aside from operating this marvelous organization, I also continue to utilize my skills for other projects. What is interesting, though, is the level of thought that I now invest into my work since the creation of this site. Creating something with such meaning has sharpened my creative focus.I sit here this evening pondering how such a purposeful use of creative expression, or a sharpened focus on putting true, heart-felt meaning behind the work any of us executes on a daily basis, could potentially produce significant benefit to our holographic world at large. For instance, I created a logo recently for a comp...

My first blog entry was about a man named Marc Rubin, whom I have known now for a number of years. Marc is a contributor to Token Rock and I have worked with him in the past on projects. When I met him he was already in great physical shape. But it wasn't more than about two years prior that things were different.Marc had been a heavyset man. With little exercise in his routine, Marc weighed in at 325 pounds. In the early days of his life, he actually had been in pretty good shape, having played college football and baseball. But as he moved into adulthood, his weight got away from him.One day, he had decided to go for a hike with his kids up a peak near his home. About half way up, Marc couldn't go any further, feeling, as he puts it, 'like I was about to die.' As he sat there, he noticed the disappointment on the faces of his boys, who were hoping to climb to the top. He and his fami...

Earlier in my life there were people close to me who would tell me that 'Creatives were hard to live with.' I don't know, maybe to some I am hard to live with. Not sure exactly why, possibly because my mind is constantly processing, conjuring up new ideas and concepts. I'm not one to embrace limitations. I prefer to grow and expand whenever possible. Often if one notices me gazing off into the distance and asks what I am thinking about I return with about a half hour of random scenarios and scenes. 'Well, I was thinking about this, and this led me to think about that.' and so on. It is just a part of me. It's who I am.Years have gone by, now. My home 'scenery' has changed and I have found myself living in a household of creatives. My wife, all of my children, and I are all highly creative individuals. Recently, I found myself again pondering a host of random thoughts. This time, though,...

I recently was commenting on another contributor's blog post which prompted me to start thinking about my perspective on raising children in a world that is so riddled with artificial experiences, the relentless promotion of false fears, and the over protective, extreme politically correct nature of our society.Trust me, I have had my FILL. I spent two and a half years being forced into taking my children to counselors enforced by the courts, who, without my consent, repeatedly instilled in them that one was a victim and the other a perpetrator. At 6 years old (both), the two of them became exploratory and shared in activity that wasn't considered acceptable at 6. I'm not quite sure if there is a anything that is acceptable or unacceptable at age six considering just how exploratory that age can be, but, nonetheless, it happened and former spouses decided to take advantage of the situati...
