Eat-slowly-and-stop-when-you-are-full
Another cause of overeating is mindless eating where we eat on autopilot. The problem with this type of eating is that we tend to keep eating until there is no food left, without any thought as to whether we had long since satisfied our hunger. The best counter to this is to eat mindfully - don't be distracted. .Eating food quickly is a guaranteed way to eat too much. A good way of slowing down your eating is to chew your food slowly and put your knife and fork down between mouthfulsWhen you've got your chosen food in front of you, eat it slowly and put down your knife and fork between mouthfuls. Enjoy your food, take time to chew it, let it give you its full texture, test and pay attention to every sensation you are experiencing. When you pause between mouthfuls, ask yourself if you are still hungry. If you find you are full, stop eating - there is no need to clear your plate. It takes ...

Lose-Fat-Not-Muscles!
Your overall body image and the way you feel about yourself, will improve dramatically as you firm up and tone up. Certainly, if you have lost 20 pounds you will feel pretty good about yourself. But, how do you feel about yourself when you see your body in the mirror? Maybe not as good as you had hoped. That's because your skin is loose, your muscles aren't toned, and you don't have the body you had dreamed of even if you achieved the weight you wanted. Working out and toning up is the only way to achieve that smooth skin and tight muscles you dream of.Many people diet and then find out that they still have not achieved their goal image even upon losing the weight and then are discouraged when they have to start an exercise program. Avoid this situation all together and include a healthy diet and workout plan in your new lifestyle. You will lose weight and tone up simultaneously giving y...

Bulk-up-Your-Willpower-Muscles
If you are struggling with New Year resolution don't be too hard on yourself, according to neuroscientists having willpower is not a character flaw and it could all be down to the physical make up of the brain. Because the part of the brain called prefrontal cortex is the same part of the brain that records our working memory and is in charge of willpower, Researchers showed that when the brain is overwhelmed with tasks willpower is very weak. The solution is, as I mention in my book, Mind Over Body: The Key To Lasting Weight Loss Is All In Your Brain, is not hammering people with new habits but helping them bulk-up their willpower muscles by making them consciously aware of certain changes that need to take place before any physical habits are set in motion. For the past ten years I have taught this process based on my own experience as a professional athlete and the experience of thous...

Facts-&-Myths
Since the 1950's women have been strength training to aid in their sporting performance. Yet, unfortunately, misconceptions about weight training haven't grown old with the times. Typically, women shy away from such a valuable exercise because they are afraid of bulking up or getting 'manly.' Well, let's explore the truth below, and see what's really going on, ladies! Myth #1: 'I'm going to get big and bulky like Hulk Hogan!'
Ladies, you will not bulk up, plain and simple. And no, big manly muscles will not develop over time; in fact, the female body builders you see on television typically train for four hours a day while consuming anabolic steroids over the course of several years. Hey, even men can't bulk up unless they take supplements! The reality: You will gain a better body composition! That is, your ratio of fat mass to lean muscle mass will start favoring that muscle mass. ...

You-Lift--You-Lose
Many other types of exercise are beneficial for fat loss, strength training is by far 'the key' to losing fat in this plan. Not only you will lose body fat but you will also gain muscle tone. Even though you might not burn a great deal of calories during your strength training workout, you will ultimately burn a greater amount of fat. The addition of muscle tone on an individual will cause an increase in the number of calories that are burned at rest. So it is reassuring to know while one is exerting themselves through a high intensity workout that the hard work will result in a faster metabolism that continues to burn calories even after the workout. As I have mentioned in the Nutrition Part of the book Mind Over Body, for each pound of muscle you carry, you'll burn an additional 50 calories. Think of it, how would you like to be burning extra calories even when sitting and having a ni...

Bring-Your-Cholesterol-Levels-Down
Exercise is a great way to reduce cholesterol levels but there are also other things you could do as well. Read food labels and buy foods low in saturated fat and low in cholesterol. To help you know what to look for when grocery shopping, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) offers a partial shopping list for you:

-Breads such as whole wheat, rye, pumpernickel, or white
-Soft tortillas, corn or whole wheat
-Hot and cold cereals except granola or muesli
-Rice (white, brown, wild, basmati, or jasmine)
-Grains (bulgur, cous cous, quinoa, barley, hominy, millet)
-Fruits: Any fresh, canned, dried, or frozen without added sugar
-Vegetables: Any fresh, frozen, or (low salt) canned without cream or cheese sauce
-Fresh or frozen juices, without added sugar
-Fat-free or one percent milk
-Cheese (with three grams of...

Whats-Up-With-That
I was walking out of the health club after a great workout, feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. While walking towards my car, I noticed two ladies headed for the entrance and while walking they each lighted up a cigarette; they were wearing gym clothes and were going to workout. You are probably thinking that this does not make much sense, trying to get in shape but at the same time, killing yourself. This is not a strange thing to me. I have seen it so many times, especially in Europe. You see those ladies are thinking that they are trying to be healthier by going to the gym, they read somewhere that it's a good thing to exercise, or someone told them they needed to or maybe their doctor prescribed it. But did anyone explain to them that in order to get in shape and be healthy they actually need to do something about their belief system, about their current lifestyle, their current environm...

-Do-You-Have-Too-Much-Belly-Fat
The size of your waist is a good indicator of whether you have too much belly fat. Even thought measurements that compare your hip and waist circumference (waist-to-hip ratio) or compare your height and weight (body mass index) are more precise and can be used for research, your waist size alone can give you a good idea of how much belly fat you hold.
For most men, the risk factors for various diseases increase with a waist size over 40 inches (102 centimeters).

To accurately measure your waist:

•Place a tape measure around your bare abdomen just above your hipbone.
•The tape measure should be snug - but not so tight it pushes into your skin.
•Check to make sure the tape measure is level all the way around.
•Relax, and measure your waist after you breathe out - no sucking in your belly!

Can you reduce belly fat ...

4-Habits-That-are-Making-You-Fat--Sick-and-Unhappy
1. Defeating Thought Process:Thinking that food can make you feel happy is actually not entirely correct, it is the emotion attached to the food you eat that makes you eat more of it.Mindful tip: stop and think about the food you eat; their maybe an association with a previous happy event you are trying to recreate subconsciously. Be conscious about the link between the food you eat and the emotion you are feeling in the moment. Drinking a glass of water and waiting 15 minutes till the craving stops can do amazing things.2. Skipping BreakfastMost people who skip breakfast thinking it will help them to lose weight are dead wrong. The truth is that skipping breakfast actually lowers your metabolism so that at your next meal you'll be likely to overeat....

Fitness-Obsession
We are infatuated with fitness. We pay attention to our waistlines. We get liposuction. We get breast implants. We buy special cosmetic products. We try our best to look and feel our best. We tighten our skin, harden our bodies, increase our cardiovascular endurance and increase our lung capacities. We try to keep ourselves fit. But what about our spiritual fitness? There is no supplement for spirituality. There is no reduced calorie spirituality. There is no 'Quick Fix' for seeking the goodness that is within ourselves. The path is taken when you are on it. My personal experience with the fitness obsession started the minute I lost touch of my inner self. I wanted to please the world I thought people were expecting me to be at a top level all the time but in reality it was not so, people loved me then as they love now, they don't need to see me in a super shape, I just have to be me, l...
