This is the calculation by scientists of the likelihood that YOU were born. Those are quite the odds against your existence, yet you are here. Maybe you have seen this statistic before. Maybe not.
In comparison, if you started a business today and you made $1,000,000 every single day, 365 days a year, it would take you 2723 years to make $1 trillion. And a million years to make just under 400 trillion.
The odds are less likely than you finding yourself alone in an elevator in Singapore with the CEO of a company you just interviewed with in Los Angeles two days earlier and he asks you what you do for a living and you say, well, as ironic as it may seem... you tell him your story and he says... 'No kidding, that's my company... what school did you graduate from?' and you tell him and he says, 'No kidding, that is my alma mater... what you doing for lunch?'
The truth is, you have been invited on stage to perform. Do you feel you are truly taking the opportunity to shine? I hope so because in 5 years from now you could be laying in a hospital bed staring at the ceiling hoping for the chance to be healthy enough to do something about it. It happens all the time. Not that it will happen to you but living like it could shifts your thinking and drives up your value of each day you are here.
Life doesn't suck. It isn't fine. It's not ok. We don't just get by. It's not out of our control. It isn't always just how it is. It isn't random. It isn't insignificant. It's not without reason. And, it doesn't only happen on the weekends. You do have a voice. You do have a choice. You do have the power, the courage, and the strength within you to make significant things happen. You are loved and some people do care. You do matter and what you do with the time you have been granted here does make a difference.
Tomorrow morning when you open your eyes, look out the window at the amazing star shining in the sky that gives you warmth, provides you nutrients which in turn keep you healthy, and gives you the astonishing beauty for your eyes to see, ears to hear, tongue to taste, and finger tips to touch and truly try to grasp that 1 in 400 trillion calculation. Just the fact that you exist is amazing. But what you are capable of doing with that opportunity can (and does) change the course of our collaborative evolution.
One of the greatest tragedies is to take for granted our senses and instead see them as given attributes of the human form. The tools we are given to experience our reality offer astonishing gifts in every moment.
